Former New York Town Official John Novello

John Novello, a former local government official, most recently served as deputy commissioner of the Town of Hempstead, New York. From 2016 to 2021, he directed and supervised personnel conducting code enforcement and inspections, issuing permits and licenses, and collecting fees. John Novello also instituted the "Express Permit" program that broke away from the traditional governmental red tape and provided a quick five-day turnaround for Building Permits of minor character. Other duties were stepping in for the Commissioner during his absence.

A graduate of the Pratt Institute, Mr. Novello holds a bachelor of architecture. He previously spent eight years as a project architect with Norman L. Wax and six years as a project architect with engineer John L. Teramo. Active in his community, he is the former chair of the Village of Cedarhurst Board of Zoning Appeals and a Certified Floodplan Manager (CFM).

Fluent in Spanish and Italian, Mr. Novello enjoys playing guitar and golf in his free time. A Rubik’s cube enthusiast, he can solve the challenging puzzle in less than 90 seconds.
